On February 1, the chip giant announced the fourth quarter and full year financial results of fiscal year 2022. According to the report, the revenue in the fourth quarter of 2022 was $5.6 billion, an increase of 16% compared with the same period last year, the gross profit margin was 43%, the operating loss was $149 million, and the net profit was $21 million, a decrease of 98% compared with the same period last year.
As for the operating loss in the fourth quarter, AMD explained that it was mainly due to the amortization of intangible assets related to the acquisition of Sirius, and the decline in non-GAAP operating profit margin was mainly due to the decline in operating income of client business.
It is noteworthy that AMD's sales of personal computer chips and graphics processors slowed down, and its personal computer chip business revenue fell by 51% in the fourth quarter year on year. The company expects that the business will continue to decline in this quarter. AMD said that its customers have too much chip inventory, which is also a common problem encountered by many semiconductor manufacturers recently.
In addition to AMD, on January 31, it also released the fourth-quarter financial report data with a year-on-year decrease of 69% in profit. The company's share price immediately plunged. As of the end of the day, Samsung's share price fell 3.63%. The latest total market value has shrunk to 412.81 trillion won. A week ago, Intel also released revenue data that was lower than market expectations, and then Intel's share price fell nearly 9%.
